Konsole

What is it?

Konsole is the terminal emulator of the KDE Plasma desktop. It is a conventional GUI terminal with tabs, split views, named profiles, bookmarks, and search, plus small conveniences such as notifications when a long command finishes and the ability to open a file manager or editor from the current directory.

Why use it?

Konsole is the natural choice on KDE: it follows your system theme, integrates with KDE services and shortcuts, and behaves like a first-class desktop application. Its profiles let you keep separate color schemes and startup commands for different tasks, and the scrollback handling is robust for reading long build logs.

How it compares

Against GNOME Terminal it is more configurable and slightly heavier.
