Alacritty

What is it?

Alacritty is a terminal emulator that renders through the GPU via OpenGL. It deliberately ships with almost no UI chrome: no tabs, no splits, no scrollback bar. Instead it aims to be the fastest possible terminal and lets a window manager or terminal multiplexer such as tmux provide the extras.

Why use it?

Alacritty is for people who notice input latency. Scrolling through huge logs or redrawing a full-screen TUI feels immediate, and CPU usage stays low even on high-refresh displays. Configuration lives in a single YAML file, so it is easy to version and copy between machines.
