nnn

What is it?

nnn is a full-featured terminal file manager written in C with almost no dependencies. It opens instantly, handles enormous directories without lag, and supports multiple contexts (workspaces), sessions that persist across restarts, and a large collection of plugins for everything from mounting disks to batch renaming.

Why use it?

nnn is the choice when speed and portability matter most. It runs on minimal systems, over slow SSH connections, and in containers where a Python or Rust runtime would be unwelcome. Despite its size it is not spartan: file type indicators, disk usage analysis, and a "type to navigate" mode make it comfortable for daily use.
